While other companies such as Lenovo joined with Project Tango Google to deliver a smartphone with camera capabilities and produce a video 360º virtual reality, Samsung seem to prefer to be independent by making his own camera 360º.
This information surfaced after Samsung filed a new trademark called "Gear 360" in South Korea, as reported by SamMobile, Friday (08/01/2016). The word "Gear" is reminiscent of the Samsung smartwatch Gear S2, so these devices is certainly not a smartphone, but it is also not possible if it is a smartwatch. The more likely is Gear 360 may be a camera.
Not the first time, a few years ago Samsung also worked on the camera with a similar capability called Beyond Project. The prototype device has been exhibited even though does not end up in the market. But it's not unusual if Gear 360 is a commercial version and a prototype of the device.
