It is uncertain if Apple will get rid of a 3.5mm audio port on the upcoming iPhone 7, because the issue is merely a rumor. But apparently, the rumor was able to mobilize some 200,000 people to the petition and asked Apple to rethink the decision to get rid of the headphone port.
The rationale for creating the petition relating to the environment as well as the additional costs are relatively expensive they should spend to buy a new wireless headset or headphones. In the petition mentioned that they would spend additional money to replace them headpone hi-fi. In addition it will also make mounting electronic waste, which most probably will not be recycled.
Apple to date not responded to this petition, but we'll see if Apple will be motivated to stick with his decision to replace the 3.5mm audio jack with lightning port or not.
