25% Smartphone Launched Year Ahead Having Force Touch Screen

25% Smartphone Launched Year Ahead Having Force Touch Screen - Next year, many manufacturers will start using the feature or pressure-based touch screen called Force Touch. The research firm said that 25% of all smartphones shipped will be launched next year with Force Touch features.

Force Touch, or pressure-based touch screen is now only used by Huawei, Apple and ZTE alone. But like sensor fingerprint scanner, this feature next year is predicted to be increasingly popular and becoming the usual features found on the phone screen. It is predicted by research firm IHS.

IHS predicts that in 2016, there will be about 25% of smartphones that use pressure-based screen feature of the entire mobile phone, which was launched in 2016, most of whom are high-end phones to mid-range. Even some manufacturers like Xiaomi and Samsung reportedly will use this feature in their flagship smartphone screen.

IHS convey that next year Force Touch module shipments increased by 317% to 461 million units next year. This increase was apparently triggered by Apple using this screen in their Watch Apple products, and 3D Touch on iPhone 6s.

IHS also said that next year shipments in-cell and on-cell would reach 40% of the entire touch panel shipments this year. This figure will increase in 2018.

Force Touch screen itself is actually not a new feature. Blackberry had long ago has this technology called SurePress and first implemented in the Blackberry Storm, and also used in the Blackberry Odin.
