This lens fits Sony A-series DSLR Bodies.The SAL35F18 adds the important 35mm focal length to the Easy Choice" series. The Easy Choice" series offers compact, lightweight lenses at reasonable prices that are attractive to entry-level users as well as intermediate and advanced photographers. On an APS-C sensor the focal length of this lens is equivalent to 52.5mm, a versatile length that will cover a range of applications from landscapes through snapshots to portraits and more.
The bright F1.8 maximum aperture further enhances the utility of this lens in diverse shooting conditions. At only 170 grams, this lens is the lightweight champion among lenses of the same focal length from other manufacturers. It can be added to a lens kit system and carried around without adding appreciable weight.
SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) achieves smooth autofocus operation. Autofocus signals received from the camera body control a motor built into the lens. The internal motor directly drives the focusing group for smooth autofocus operation.
